A sync *cough* Z *cough* move

First, since it's been a while, let me get this out of the way - yes, Lucario's going to be in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

...but that's still a half year away! Today, the trailer for Pokemon Masters (a mobile game) was released, and it coming out this summer! As shown in the trailer, Lucario and Korrina will be together as a "Sync Pair".

It'll even have Mega-Lucario! (which is still better than this newfangled Dynamax mechanic)

Anyways, check out the full trailer here!

This web server will be down tonight ~12 EDT for a server upgrade.

The maintenance itself will only take a few minutes, but since I might be getting a new IP address from Amazon EC2, it may take up to 24 hours for the site's DNS to be back online around the world.

You can now find Riolu and Lucario at Poni Grove on Poni Island in Pokémon Sun and Moon, which has been added to the locations page here!

If you're reading this, that means that my port of the server away from the more expensive Microsoft Azure to Amazon AWS was successful!

Here's why I moved:

  • Price before moving: $68 a month
  • Price after moving: $4 a month

So... yeah. I was getting a few credits on Azure that made the price palatable, but you can see how moving's a no-brainer :)

Anyways, that doesn't mean too much for the webpage itself; it does mean that I won't have the resources to do serious file hosting anymore, though :( (my disk is literally 8GB)

Time to go back to work - hope you're having a great summer!

The server's been running pretty much nonstop for over a year until a few hours ago last night, when the site went down!

And no, it wasn't due to a crash or lack of maintenance (heh, heh... :( ), but because the bandwidth bill exceeded the amount of funds I had available.

Bandwidth is expensive

Yeah. Bandwidth. It's mostly actually because I'm mirroring some Raspberry Pi 2 images and Project M files, but it's surprisingly not cheap. Anyways, with a few structural changes and alerts made, we should be good to go for times ahead!

There's a new tutorial up! It explains how to turn a Windows PC into a Wi-Fi hotspot, in case you ever need to share your Ethernet (or other internet source) with your myriad of other devices. It's not difficult to do, but it's long...

...probably could have curtailed it a bit. Oh well. It's really thorough. Find it in the tutorials section!

I may or may not do the PuTTY one soon- there might not really be a need.

Also, CSS (styling) changes coming soon! I'm finally sick of staring at this shadow-y H2.

Assessment dashboard

Remember that FRC scouting tool? Well, now I've been asked to turn that into a dashboard to gather the various statuses of different projects, so I'll be busy with this for a while.

Next up? I'll be adding Lucario's Smash for 3DS info to the Lucario section, and creating a tutorial on how to tunnel with PuTTY!

FRC Scouter

Here's a scouting application for Rebound Rumble, for those off-seasons that are still happening! It handles not only the calculation of match scores (to verify scouter results) but also allows for team robot data entry to find out what style of robot your alliance partners or foes are. It's coded in the same thing this site is in- PHP, and MySQL, and runs easily on a Raspberry Pi! If anyone wants source code, just send me an email!

Time for the outdoors, and sleeping lazily on the couch!

Really, though, it's time for work on this and my calculator app. So far, it's a nice 4-function calculator with memory functions as well, but hopefully it'll blossom into a unit converter and scientific calculator.

An update to the news system- gone is the long, lengthy one-page stream of new, in is the now totally database-managed news system (It was already databased-managed earlier, but old news snippets were not migrated yet).

An idea to webdevs building the same- instead of separate queries to determine if you need a "next page" button, why not just query for one more entry than what is shown? Then you can test for the extra entry and display the buttons you need.
